A darbar is a court.
This one feeds the mohalla.

In the old word, a darbar was where a court gathered — where you arrived as a guest and were fed like it mattered. Grand Darbar takes that one idea and runs a neighbourhood restaurant on it, on Kausar Baug Road in Kondhwa.

The Place

Find us near Sana Hospital, where Kausar Baugh meets Kondhwa — a part of Pune that eats seriously and judges quickly. The room is green woodwork and brass lamps, steel jugs on dark wood tables, fans turning overhead. It is not a themed restaurant. It is the neighbourhood's dining room, and it fills like one: family lunches, birthday tables, groups that order the platter first and argue about dessert later.

Meat goes into its marinades, rice is washed and rested, the tandoor's clay is brought up to heat before the first guest walks in at twelve.

Biryani handis are layered and sealed as orders come — dum is timed backwards from your table, never forwards from a warmer.

The Evening CourtPlatters, then the sweet chapter

Evenings are family hours: tandoor platters to open, musallam to the middle, mocktails for the children, kunafa to close. Doors at 11:30.

WHAT REGULARS ORDER

The order that writes itself

Read the reviews and a pattern appears: Turkish soup to start, something off the tandoor — often the whole 24-piece platter — Murg Musallam or Mutton Dum Biryani in the middle, and kunafa with malpua rabdi to finish. It is the menu in the order the darbar wrote it.
